How bad do you want it?

It’s Games season and all that brings with it; the excitement of competition,  the fun of being with friends and like-minded folks all striving to do the (nearly?) impossible.

But when each workout is over how will we know how we’ve done? Is it about “winning”? Having a better score than someone else? Or is like legendary coach John Wooden says:

"Success is peace of mind which is a direct result of self-satisfaction in knowing you did your best to become the best you are capable of becoming.”

I agree with Coach when he says that there’s a difference between winning and succeeding. To win is an external validation, what someone else thinks of what we’ve done or a higher score established by the rules of a game. To succeed is to rise above the game, to be a better person than we were before.

When you approach the Open workouts these next few weeks think that over. If you give your all, if you want to succeed - not win, necessarily, but succeed - more than you want to breathe you will have succeeded beyond anyone else’s wildest dreams.
